2020 Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival cancelled

The Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation announced on June 11th the cancellation of the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival 2020, previously scheduled for October 22nd to 25th, due to uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival for next year is planned for April 8-11, 2021.
Although there will be no 2020 festival, the foundation will continue to support the local culinary community through the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund launched in March 2020, the organization said in a press release.

The $ 100,000 fund was set up to help food service professionals who have faced extreme difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19 on restaurants, bars, and other food-focused businesses. Nearly $ 90,000 has been distributed in the past three months, with additional funding being given every week.

“The Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation is here to serve local food companies and their employees who emerge every day to move forward in these uncertain times,” said Russell Kirkpatrick, co-founder of the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival. “They have been instrumental in growing the festival and developing our local culinary scene, and we want them to know we have their backs.”

Without the opportunity to host a major event in 2020, the FWFWF will instead show appreciation for local restaurants by dedicating October 19-25, 2020 to the celebration of food and beverage companies in the region. Specific details will be announced in early August.
