Dallas-Fort Worth Walmarts to test bakery-cafe concept | 2021-05-03

DALLAS – La Madeleine chain of bakery and café has announced plans to launch a new concept in multiple Walmart locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

La Madeleine Express restaurants, which will open in 10 Walmart stores from this summer, offer a reduced selection of take-away options such as soups, salads, pizzas and more. The first La Madeleine Express will be launched in Garland, Texas in July. Each site will have a smaller footprint of 980 to 2,209 square feet.

Each La Madeleine Express has a retail area with bestsellers, as well as bottled and canned products such as soups, jams and sauces.

“We are very excited about Walmart’s curated food service experience for customers,” said Lionel Ladouceur, CEO of La Madeleine. “We look forward to making it even more convenient for the DFW community to enjoy the La Madeleine experience and to introduce our French comfort food to Walmart shoppers looking for a more diverse choice of restaurants.”

The first La Madeleine location opened in 1983 in Dallas across from Southern Methodist University. Since then it has grown to over 86 locations in 9 states. The bakery-café menu serves breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day and is based on engaging French cuisine with simple, fresh ingredients and recipes such as soups, salads, sandwiches, starters, pasta, handmade French pastries and much more.
