DFW cements new ranking among top U.S. emerging housing markets

It’s no secret that housing markets across Texas are on fire. Fanning Those Flames is a new ranking from The Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com.

Dallas-Fort Worth appears in 98th place in the first Emerging Housing Markets Index by WSJ / Realtor.com.

It is one of three Texas metros to make the top 100. Killeen-Temple (in central Texas) ranks 42nd.

And it’s not surprising that Austin beats everyone else in the state (and almost all of the country) in second place. Only Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, rises above it to # 1.

The index measures the return on investment and viability of the 300 most populous metropolitan areas in the country.

The real estate market (50 percent) and the economic health (50 percent) of a metropolitan area are taken into account. The ranking factors include the supply and demand of real estate, the median list price, the unemployment rate and daily commute times.

“While other market-by-market comparisons only focus on real estate metrics, the WSJ / Realtor.com Emerging Housing Markets Index also examines non-real estate indicators to identify places that are not only good places to invest, but your location is likely too Enjoy life, ”reported the WSJ on April 27th.

The new index follows reports that Dallas-Fort Worth is a prime destination for residents leaving Los Angeles. that it has some of the best suburbs in the country; and that it’s the sixth hottest real estate market in the country.

Among the state’s other major metros, San Antonio ranks 216 on the WSJ and Houston 262.
