Fort Worth gets one of Macy’s cute new smaller-format stores

Macy’s department store chain is opening a new store in Fort Worth that will be one of the newer stores on a smaller scale. Called Macy’s MarketIt opens in the WestBend Lifestyle Mall, 1751 River Run, # 101, in what was once a cute little Tom Thumb.

According to a publication, it will open on January 15th. It is only the second store of its kind in DFW; The first Market By Macy’s opened in Southlake in February 2020.

John Harper, COO of Macy’s Inc., said in a statement that the new scalable format is part of their initiative to respond to changing consumer behavior.

There’s a glimmer of hope to counter a round of closings the chain had to initiate, including two DFW stores: Golden Triangle in Denton and Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville.

This smaller model covers approximately 20,000 square feet and has a narrower range of goods in an open environment where all goods are easily accessible on the floor.

“We are excited about the value and enhanced shopping experience that Market by Macy’s brings to new and existing customers in the Dallas Fort Worth community, based on an ecosystem that will from now on offer our customers access to the abundance of the Macy’s brand to off-mall and full-line to off-price, “says Harper.
