Fort Worth holiday tradition Parade of Lights going virtual for 2020

The organizers of the annual GM Financial Parade of Lights have announced that the 2020 edition will be a virtual edition taking place on November 22nd at the Fort Worth Convention Center, and will be broadcast locally and on the Parade of Lights Facebook page.

After the show, which will not have a live audience, there will be the “Downtown Showcase of Floats” on November 23rd and 24th, with around 20 signature parade floats along Main Street for personal (but socially distant) photos Possibilities are shown along with holiday music.

Downtown Fort Worth is also hosting a Holidays at Home virtual float building contest that encourages everyone to build their own lighted float and submit a video of their float online before it airs. A jury will review all entries and the best of the best will be featured in a special video that will be broadcast during the November 22nd parade broadcast.

“Even in these troubled times, we want to bring the community a beautiful shine,” said Eddie Broussard, chairman of Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., in a statement. “We pride ourselves on the fact that viewers can enjoy the GM Financial Parade of Lights at home through a fully produced TV and online broadcast, while the new Downtown Showcase of Floats allows families to take festive photos with music Hear and get started the holiday season in downtown Fort Worth in a safe and socially detached way. “

Viewers are encouraged to host watch parties at home, order a takeaway dinner at any of 50+ restaurants in Downtown Fort Worth, and look for online engagement opportunities while on the air
