Houston’s Turkey Leg Hut Causes 12-Hour Waits for Fort Worth Fans

On Saturday as we drove west on Interstate 30 toward Fort Worth, there were a number of cars that stretched half a mile along the feeder road, reminiscent of last year’s pantries. Clouds of smoke rose into the sky near a red tent in a parking lot. The Houston Turkey Leg Hut made a pop-up at Potter’s House in Fort Worth. This is the first visit from the supplier of stuffed, covered and asphyxiated turkey legs to North Texas.
According to social media posts, you really had to want a turkey leg: four hours before the opening on Friday, the social media team estimated 3,000 people were in line. On Friday evening the waiting time was more than 12 hours.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Ca’Drian Carol posted the following on The Turkey Leg Hut’s Facebook page:
“I’ve waited 13 hours !! Couldn’t get out of line to leave. Arrived at 11am and left at 1245pm. Never again. They ran out of food right behind me and told hundreds of people to.” Try again. You still couldn’t walk right. ” gone because there were so many cars. Vehicles were towed by dead batteries, car problems, and cars running out of gas. I came alone and couldn’t go to the bathroom or eat for 13 hours. A girl at home asked for a ticket that proves she waited 13 hours so she could come back today or tomorrow and skip the line where they said no and get there early. Everyone asked about the owners and they supposedly left. NOT OK. “
Others also reported that there was no way out of the queue, leaving them stuck. To rub salt into this wound, Turkey Leg Hut ran out of food around 3am and those in line were told to try again tomorrow. As mentioned above, the organizers were unable to process this request when asked for coupons for their 12+ hour service that they had already submitted.
On Saturday they just switched things to walk-up but people still had to drive to get there which resulted in the same line of cars. According to Turkey Leg Hut’s Instagram page, the line was stacked along I-30 Feeder Road for Saturday seven hours before opening. Those in line on Saturday reported that things went smoother with just four to five hours of waiting.

Fans of the spot quickly got organized and conquered: on Saturday afternoon there was an order for 49 legs and the tab was $ 1,191. Shortly thereafter, they limited orders to six turkey legs per customer.
The Turkey Leg Hut opened in the parking lot of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2016. A few years later, owners Lynn and Nakia Price opened a store in the third district where Lynn grew up. The reaction to her turkey legs was like a Saturn booster rocket, and long lines are common on weekends.
The most popular menu items are the stuffed turkey thighs, which are smoked turkey thighs smothered in alfredo sauce, shrimp and parmesan, dirty rice or Cajun lobster mac and cheese.
The Turkey Leg Hut on Almeda Road in Houston is open every day except Mondays. They’re full on the weekends, but Tuesday through Thursday isn’t bad. It takes 3 hours and 22 minutes to drive there from downtown Dallas.
