Luxury hotel with famed chef headed for Fort Worth’s Cultural District

A large mixed-use project is in the works for the Fort Worth cultural district that will include a luxury hotel and the top Dallas chef.

The project is on the corner of Camp Bowie and Van Cliburn and adjacent to the Fort Worth Museums, Dickies Arena and Will Rogers Coliseum. It includes: a premier boutique hotel with a chef-run restaurant; Luxury residential buildings; and an office building.

According to a press release, the project is from Fort Worth’s Crescent Real Estate LLC, which owns the Ritz-Carlton Dallas, and will share some similarities with the Ritz-Carlton, including its hotel and residential combination.

Like the Ritz, there will also be a chef-run eatery like Fearing’s, Chef Dean Fearing’s prestigious Southwestern restaurant, whose numerous awards include nodding for Best Chef and Best Restaurant at CultureMap’s annual Tastemaker Awards.

Chef Fearing will oversee the restaurant on the Fort Worth Project, but says it won’t be called Fearing’s.

“We have so many Fort Worth people eating with us at Fearing and I don’t want to imitate that,” he says. “It will go in a different direction, but it will definitely be my food.”

That said, there are some Fearing dishes that he can’t fail to serve.

“I guarantee there will be tortilla soup, which has been a signature since we opened Fearing in 2007, and probably a couple of other favorites as well,” he says. “But we want Fort Worth to have its own restaurant and have fun doing it. What a beautiful project this will be, it really is what Fort Worth needs.”

Crescent Chairman John Goff, who has lived in Fort Worth since 1981, is excited to bring a world-class mixed-use project to the cultural district.

“The Crescent brand is known across the country for our luxury hotels, office and residential properties,” he says. “We’re going to build the best hotel in town, which we hope will be the Fort Worth living room. We can’t wait to bring the Crescent brand to Fort Worth on a massive scale.”

The office building will be the new headquarters for Goff’s businesses including Crescent Real Estate, Goff Capital Inc., Contango Oil & Gas and Canyon Ranch.

Features on the hotel will include:

  • 200 rooms

  • restaurant

  • Rooftop lounge

  • 8,000 square meters of ballroom / meeting space

  • Landscaped courtyard that hosts al fresco dining, events, and social activities.

There will also be 175 luxury residential units.

The groundbreaking is scheduled for summer 2021, and the project will open in mid-2023.
