Man Arrested After Calling Police, Admitting to Fatally Stabbing Wife – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
A man is in custody after Dallas police alleged he cut his wife’s throat and stabbed her in her kitchen after she dropped her children off at school Monday morning.
Yoni Vasquez-Velasquez, 28, called 911 on Monday morning and told operators he killed his wife, according to an arrest warrant affidavit received by NBC 5 on Tuesday.
Vasquez-Velasquez then went to a nearby Dallas police station, where he was stopped by patrolmen. Police said he had blood on his arms and clothes and a bloody jackknife in his pocket.
Meanwhile, officers were sent to the couple’s home on the 4,500 block of Lizzy Drive, where they found the man’s wife, identified as 23-year-old Irma Bonilla, who had died of apparent “murderous violence”.

Dallas police said Yoni Vasquez-Velasquez admitted to fatally stabbing his wife on April 19, 2021.
Police said the man read his rights and agreed to speak to detectives.
Vasquez-Velasquez told police that his wife returned from school around 7:10 a.m. and that she was sitting in the kitchen when he stepped behind her with a jackknife, slit her throat and stabbed her several times.
In the affidavit, police said the man told them he was dissatisfied with the status of their relationship. Further details were not given.
Vasquez-Velasquez was taken to Dallas County Jail, where he is being held for murder on $ 500,000 bail. It is not clear whether he was given a lawyer.
