On Monday, Riggins’ family shared a dire statement after their car was found.

It read:

We’d like to thank everyone who found Carolyn and prayed for us along the way. Thank you everyone who searched with us, handed out leaflets, donated time, money, snacks, supplies and effort. For those of you who wanted to do something but couldn’t, we felt your hearts and we know that you were with us in our search, our hopes, our worries. We hurt now, but healing can begin now.

We are waiting for a positive identification, but part of us already knows … we can lay my sweet sister to rest now. We can recommend her sweet soul to heaven.

Riggins was last seen alive at Watauga Bingo Hall on July 11th.

Authorities said they do not suspect foul play.
