New List of Best and Worst Cities to Get Barbecue Causing a Stir on Social Media – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
May is national barbecue month, and a new list of the best and worst places to barbecue is causing a stir on social media.
The list was published by the international food magazine, Chef’s Pencil, using TripAdvisor’s average ratings for barbecue sites in the country’s 75 largest cities.
In the list of the top 10 cities for barbecues, New Orleans is number one and Newark, New Jersey is number 10. No city in Texas ranks 10th.
However, three cities in Texas were included in the list of the 10 worst BBQ spots.
Plano is number two, Houston is number seven, and Fort Worth is number 10.
Visit Houston thought the list was funny.
Others said they should “throw away the whole card” calling it a “card of lies”.
Chef’s Pencil also ranked the Blue Door Smokehouse in Lexington, Kentucky, as the best BBQ place in the country.
TripAdvisor said the online travel company “is unrelated to this grill study presented by Chef’s Pencil”.
“In fact, we have concerns about the use and presentation of TripAdvisor data within the study, including the way cities were ranked against each other,” said TripAdvisor.
Here’s the full list of the best and worst cities to grill in, according to Chef’s Pencil. The cities received points out of five.
