PBR’s Elite Unleash The Beast Returns to Fort Worth for First Time in 16 Years
Premier series PBR WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational tickets are available starting Monday, July 20, 10:00 AM (CT)
FORT WORTH, Texas – For the first time in 16 years, PBR (Professional Bull Riders) elite, Unleash The Beast, are returning to Fort Worth, Texas to greet fans at Dickies Arena August 29-30 for the PBR WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational.
The PBR WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational at Dickies Arena will adhere to the health standards set for rodeo and equestrian events as set out in the Open Texas guidelines. PBR follows all local and state health protocols and is working with Dickies Arena to implement a number of fan safety protocols. These protocols for the event include:
- All fans as well as employees and participants must wear face masks in the Dickies Arena.
- All Dickies Arena employees, as well as PBR employees, drivers, and warehouse operators will be screened for coronavirus. In addition to the CDC-informed screening (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), all PBR employees undergo medical tests for COVID-19.
- PBR will only sell up to 50% of the arena capacity to separate fans.
- All fans are located in POD seats, which increases the distance and minimizes the fan crossing when entering and leaving their seats.
- The focus will be on mobile ticketing and cashless transactions.
- Sales of goods will be limited to bestsellers to reduce the number of items and encourage faster transactions.
- Hand disinfection stations will be installed throughout the venue to promote hand hygiene.
- Reinforced disinfection of high contact areas including bathrooms, halls, concession stands, elevators, dining areas, and the Dickies Arena box office.
- Prepaid parking spaces are available through Ticketmaster in regularly renovated parking lots.
- Pre-packaged concessions, spices and utensils.
Prior to the crowds gathering restrictions imposed by COVID-19 (coronavirus), PBR’s Unleash The Beast last performed in front of fans at Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock, Ark., March 6-7. The sport then hosted closed events for its first series in Duluth, Georgia, at the Infinite Energy Arena March 14-15, followed by three event weekends in Logan County, Oklahoma, beginning April 25.
From July 10-12, PBR welcomed fans to Sioux Falls, SD for the first time to the playoffs of a special team tournament created to keep the sport going during the pandemic, the groundbreaking PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge as well of a Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour event.
Historically, the PBR Unleash The Beast has made eight stops in Fort Worth, most recently in 2004 when it traveled to the city Mike Collins emerged victorious.
In the Bull Pen, the 2004 event also showed a dominant performance by Little yellow jacket who won his third consecutive world championship at the end of the year. Besting Reuben GeleynseLittle Yellow Jacket was rated a whopping 47 points, making it the third-best score ever achieved by one of the league’s dominant cattle athletes during the entire event.
Along with Collins as the winner of the previous Fort Worth Premier Series event, they are two PBR world champions. The only Australian PBR world champion in league history Troy Dunn (1998) won the Lone Star State event in 2000, while becoming world champion in 1999 Cody Hart was victorious in 2003.
In addition to the world champions, three founding members of the PBR also rode to victory in Fort Worth: Gilbert Carrillo (1995), Cody Custer (2001) and Jim Sharp (2002).
Other winners from the previous Fort Worth Unleash The Beast event include: Brian Herman (1997), Norman Curry (1999).
Despite the Fort Worth Premier Series absence for more than 15 years, the greater Dallas / Fort Worth area is no stranger to elite bull riding competitions. In 2019 and 2020, the AT&T Stadium in Arlington welcomed the PBR Global Cup, a one-of-a-kind team tournament where national team riders come together to compete for record wallets and the Toughest Nation on Dirt title. Last February, a nation defended home soil for the first time in Global Cup history when Team USA Eagles drove to victory under the guidance of coaches Justin McBride and JW Hart, and captain Jess Lockwood.
This season, PBR Unleash The Beast’s stop in Fort Worth is vital for the championship race to the PBR World Finals in early November. The world’s best bull rider receives a gold buckle and a million dollar bonus. The riders lining up in Fort Worth are expected to be led by the current number 1 in the world Jose Vitor Lemealong with Texas own Cooper Davis (Jasper), Cole Melancon (Paris) and Mason Taylor (Maypearl).
The bull riding promotion for the PBR WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational begins with the first round on Saturday, August 29 at 6:45 p.m. (CT) and ends with the second round and championship round on Sunday, August 30 at 1:45 p.m. (CT) 35 bull riders will get one bull each in round 1 and 2. After Round 2 on Sunday afternoon, drivers’ individual two-round results will be aggregated, with the top 15 advancing for another round and a chance at the championship round of the $ 30,000 event titles.
Tickets for the two-day event will be available starting Monday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m. local time, starting at $ 16.50. They can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling PBR Customer Service at 1-800-732-1727.
