Tarrant County Jail Reports Zero COVID-19 Cases to Texas Commission on Jail Standards – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Tarrant County Jail is currently not reporting any COVID-19 cases at the facility.
The prison is the only major county jail in Texas that has no reported cases for counties with populations greater than one million, although other major counties with low COVID counts are doing well, Tarrant County said.
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards is recording and reporting positive cases of COVID in prisons across the state.
Ever since the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office initiated protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the prison, great caution has been taken in working with John Peter Smith Hospital to prevent the disease from spreading.
The protocols included mandatory daily temperature checks by grocery vendors, employees, inmates, and the use of face masks by anyone entering the prison facilities, including staff.
Prison officials said team members are still following these precautions, as they have been since spring 2020.
