The Cowtown 2021 – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Join NBC and The Cowtown for their personal race on May 8th at the Will Rogers Memorial Center and virtually anywhere until June 30th.

Participants wishing to run in person must apply before May 1, but should register soon before each circuit is full. Due to Covid-19 security protocols, The Cowtown limits the number of participants in each event and only offers some distances on race day. Spectators are not allowed due to the security protocol.

All CDC protocols are followed to ensure runners and volunteers are safe.

Individuals wishing to participate in the Cowtown Virtual Races must register, select any distance, and travel those distances by June 30th at the latest. The Ultra Marathon, Marathon, Half Marathon, Healthy Hig Relay, Adults 5K, Children 5K and 10K will be available virtually.

The Cowtown also needs volunteers for their drive-thru package pickup and for race day. Volunteers must register at www.cowtownmarathon.org or email [email protected]

The Cowtown is a nonprofit that promotes health and fitness in the community. Runners who participate in The Cowtown support the efforts of the CALF program, also known as Children’s Activities for Life and Fitness. The program provides students with educational resources and training in promoting nutrition and health.

To run this initiative, The Cowtown works with school districts in North Texas to keep North Texas children active and healthy. Teams from the CALF program visit schools and produce small pop-up runs for children.
Every child participating in the CALF program is given a new pair of running shoes and socks to motivate them to stay active. In the midst of the pandemic, the need is greater now than ever!

Sign up for The Cowtown 2021 today! Get ready to guide and support children across North Texas to lead healthier lifestyles.

About the Cowtown:: In a commitment to the safety of all athletes, volunteers, spectators and employees, the running of Cowtown will now take place in person on Saturday, May 8, 2021 and deviate from the traditionally planned last weekend in February (February 26 to 28, 2021). All personal races will take place at the Will Rogers Memorial Center on Saturday, May 8th and will include only 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Healthy Hig Half Marathon Relays. The Cowtown offers virtual options for running the Kids 5K, Adults 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Healthy Hig Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Ultra Marathon. There are no personal races for the Kids 5K, Marathon and Ultra Marathon. Proceeds from The Cowtown will go directly to the CALF program.

The Cowtown CALF (Children’s Activities for Life and Fitness) program:: As part of The Cowtown’s mission to promote a lifelong love of fitness, the CALF program was launched in 2009 to help tens of thousands of children in the area lace up and cross countless finish lines. Cowtown visits approximately 400 schools in North Texas annually, training students in proper running technique and teaching them about resting heart rate, the importance of hydration, proper nutrition and an active lifestyle. As part of the school scholarship program, The Cowtown identifies low-income children and properly adjusts them to a new pair of running shoes. Scholarships are also given to make entry fees more affordable. The Cowtown has made a 42 km race for 42,000 children a reality for the past 11 years.
