These are the 5 best food and drink events in Fort Worth this week
It’s the home stretch of the holiday season with Christmas a little over a week away, but this week’s events can help fight the mayhem with good food and drink. Start with a crawl in the grocery hall that goes to a good cause. Then treat yourself to traditional Christmas dishes from two different countries – Italy and Germany. End the week with a sip of one of several fresh fruit sangrias from a local restaurant that celebrates National Sangria Day.
Tuesday 17th December
Hall crawl at the Food Hall on Crockett Row
For a $ 25 ticket, diners can sample a range of canapes from all of the on-site restaurants in the popular dining room, including Butler’s Cabinet, Hooker’s Grill, Monkey King Noodle Co., Not Just Q, Press Waffle Co., Shwarma Bar and Val’s cheesecake and more. The ticket also includes a craft cocktail. There will also be live music and a visit from Santa Claus. The proceeds will go to the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Festival of the seven fish in grace
Chef Blaine Staniford presents his take on the traditional Italian Christmas Eve dinner, also known as The Vigil. The 7-course menu starts with swordfish ham, followed by frito misto, clam toast, black cod, Maine lobster made from diavola noodles, sea trout and mascarpone cannoli. All courses are combined with wines. The price of $ 145 per person excludes taxes and gratuities. A bubble welcome reception begins at 6:30 PM, followed by dinner at 7:00 PM.
Wednesday December 18th
A German Christmas at Ellerbe Fine Foods
It is the last dinner in the restaurant’s “Around the World” series from 2019 and offers traditional German holiday dishes. Start with a Limburg cheese salad with caraway vinaigrette, before indulging in a main course of braised German-style braised beef with potato dumplings and red cabbage. The dessert includes a range of German baked goods, including fruit cakes, hazelnut macaroons, cinnamon star biscuits and ginger biscuits. The price of $ 45 per person does not include taxes, tips, or alcohol. There will be a wine flight as well as a unique cocktail. Reservations are possible from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Hall and Walt wines at Off the Vine
This wine bar in Grapevine hosts tastings every week (there are always bubbles on Sundays), but this one is notable for the two well-known Napa and Sonoma labels from well-known DFW power couple Craig and Kathryn Hall. Drink a flight of six different Hall and Walt wines paired with light sausages for $ 50 per person. Please note that reservations are required and the guided tasting starts at 7pm.
Friday December 20th
National Sangria Day in Bartaco
Celebrate the wine drink enriched with fresh fruits in three different varieties in the WestBend restaurant. The Light Acoustic offers pineapple, green apple and mango; The Hey Miss Dragonfly is flowery and stronger with elderflower liqueur and tequila. and the Mix-and-a-Mingle contains holiday flavors with winter spices, ginger and agave. Bartaco also offers a “secret cocktail” every month – currently a savory margarita called Blood, Sweat & Cheers made from blood oranges, fresh jalapeños and smoked pepper agave, which is available now through January 14th.
