Traditional Georgian Colonial With Sweeping Views Across Fort Worth, Texas

Listing of the day

Place: Fort Worth, Texas
Price: $ 4.95 million

Located on a hill overlooking Fort Worth, Texas, this stately brick mansion in the affluent Rivercrest neighborhood offers wide-angle views of the city.

The 9,181 square foot home is in “one of our most desirable neighborhoods,” said listing agent Margaret McDermott Coulborn. “It’s on a private street with only seven houses.”

“It’s like being on a cliff overlooking an urban green space and then an expansive view of the entire west side of Fort Worth,” she said.

The traditional Georgian colonial building was built by the current owners and completed in 2005.

Architectural and design details include extensive mill work, arched doors, herringbone wooden floors, high ceilings, dentil moldings, and multiple balconies with views.

“The house is three stories and the view gets better with each floor,” said Ms. Coulborn. “You don’t feel like you are in Texas when you look at these views.”

The first floor has a grand entrance with a curved staircase, formal living and dining room, the kitchen, an office, a wood-paneled den, a wine room, and a bedroom.

The kitchen-living room has an island, a butler area and an office corner. It opens to the pool in the back yard.

The master bedroom suite on the second floor has two bathrooms, closets and dressing areas.

The third floor offers plenty of storage space and an open living area that opens onto a large terrace.

The property is “completely private because it is in a cul-de-sac,” said Ms. Coulborn. “You can’t hear anything when you’re up there.”

Neighborhood notes

The house is in the Rivercrest neighborhood, which has “multi-million dollar homes and the River Crest Country Club is right next door,” said Ms. Coulborn. It is one of the original neighborhoods in Fort Worth.

The house is near downtown and five minutes from the Fort Worth Cultural District, which is home to six museums in a park-like setting, she said.
